Alignment Reflection
This artifact is aligned with the INTASC Standard 1: Learner Development. This artifact follows this standard because as an educator, it is important to recognize that each student’s level of development varies. The list of book I have chosen for my multicultural literature library has a varied reading level, suitable for children of all ages. Within your classroom ones bound to have students with more than one ethnic background and our students should be aware of that. Students with ethnic backgrounds have a tendency to connect to the lesson when they can relate to what’s being taught. When a student’s culture is addressed within the classroom, one feels more connected.
Personal Reflection
Throughout this assignment I learned that there are plenty of multicultural books! There are so many different books amongst all reading levels. Having these books within my classroom shows students the diversity our world has, which I think is huge in today’s society. Throughout this assignment I realized that these books can have a major role within the students learning. When these books are read or taught, the students can connect with their culture and heritage. The student with other background will still enjoy the books as well as gaining information on another culture. I know that I will have many different multicultural children’s books in my classroom, someday.
