Teaching Science Philosophy
Looking back at previous science classes, what is the easiest way to learn science? It is obvious that each child learns differently but when a child is learning through hands on, most likely they will remember it. My philosophy for teaching science is to use hands on activities which will help keep the children engaged and interested.
Students need to realize that science has its part each and every day and it is my job to help them develop consciousness, knowledge and appreciation of the world around them. There are different skills that each student should develop throughout their experience in science. These skills should include questioning, forming hypotheses, collecting and analyzing data, reaching conclusions, evaluating results and effectively communicating procedures and findings to others.
Core units, both developmentally and chronologically fitting for students at their particular grade level, will be infused with reading, writing and practical technology learning skills. Incorporating different standards and hands on activities will demonstrate the different themes of a unit in ways that children will remember what they are learning. It is important for me to integrate culture through my teaching. When students can relate to their cultural background, they feel a sense of importance. It is my responsiblitiy as a teacher to include the communities culture as much as possible.
