Teaching Philosophy
As a teacher, it is my duty to
challenge, engage and motivate my students. Each child is different, each child
will learn different but each child is capable of learning and broadening their
knowledge. When I look at students, I do not see them as students having a
sponge as their brain. These students do not just soak up any information that
is lectured. Students will construct their own knowledge through their learning
experiences. Constructivism explains students gaining knowledge through different
learning experiences.
As I mentioned earlier, each student learns different. It is my job to know each child personally and discover how each individual learns. This follows Howard Gardner’s theory on multiple intelligences. Each person has a distinct intelligence within the seven intelligences. Without a doubt, there will be times where lessons will need to be modified due to diverse needs. Differentiated instruction is important because each student needs to be engaged with the lesson; this plays a major role in the student’s education.
